Okay, so I managed to work out what the issue was in the end - it was OS X's handling of the EDID data from the monitor. plist files but that was all for Yosemite, apparently it's different for El Capitan.

How can I add 1680x1050 to this list, as presumably that would display clearly? SwitchResX doesn't fix this and neither does RDM, I've seen stuff about editing. The options for the resolution in Displays all work perfectly (various ones from 800圆00 up to 1400x1050 when Alt-Scaled) but then it jumps up to 1920x1080.

My monitor (and adaptor) can display 1920x1080 so that would appear to not be the case here. asked before, but they all said it was to do with the resolution being too high. I've seen questions about VGA cables/adaptors etc. On the monitor, it says it's displaying 800圆00 when my Mac says it's displaying 1680x1050. However, when I try to use that resolution, my screen looks like this which is clearly not right (it looks impossibly pixellated and really hurts my eyes, you can barely see anything on the screen). The monitor's optimum resolution is 1680x1050 60Hz and RDM shows this as an option.

He hasn't responded (do I have to wait 24 hours in between each email?! How about a call?).I've got a MacBook Pro (Early 2015, OS 10.11.2) and I've also got a Dell 2209WAf monitor, which I'm using with a VGA cable and this adaptor. I have responded with great detail about the crashes on OS X, including pasting the report that would be sent back to Apple after the crash.
#SWITCHRESX RESOLUTION NOT INSTALLED HOW TO#
I have a ticket #8527331 "Registered iRig Pro I/O & purchased AmpliTube 5 Max Upgrade, no new products show in IK Product Manager" and the tech, Sebastion C., responded within 24 hours, but only responded to how to setup the AmpliTube CS app in iOS on my iPhone. I then connected the iRig and set the input bitrate to 44,100 and AT5 still crashes on open. I saw posts discussing the audio driver, so I disconnected my Roland GP-10 and iRig Pro I/O and verified in Audio Midi Setup app that I was set to use built in Mic and speakers, 44,100 bitrate and AmpliTube 5 still crashes on opening. I then deactivated SwitchResX and switched to all 5 resolutions provided in OS X System Prefs with no success. I use a resolution manager called SwitchResX and tried a bunch of different resolutions, all without success. I saw other posts mentioning the default resolution on a Mac allowed their AmpliTube apps to open. I found the AmpliTube 5 dmg file in ~/Documents/IK Multimedia/IK Product Manager and was able to unauthorize in IKPM, uninstall the app, then re-install and re-authorize, yet it will not open. I registered the Max SN# I received in the mail inside IK Product Manager and it shows as registered in IKPM, but the standalone app won't launch anymore! I am able to open the AmpliTube 5 VST inside of Reason Suite 11, but haven't verified how it sounds yet. After doing that, AmpliTube 5 no longer opens.

#SWITCHRESX RESOLUTION NOT INSTALLED UPGRADE#
However, after I received the iRig and registered it in IK Product Manager, I was then able to purchase the upgrade to AmpliTube 5 Max. I installed the AmpliTube 5 version (free/cs version?) available to me after purchasing iRig Pro I/O and it opened and worked fine. Built in Mic / Speakers 44.1k, Roland GP-10, iRig Pro I/O (Also tried deactivating SwitchResX and then all 5 resolutions in System Preferences)
